FAQs

What is the Pypeline New Media Portal?

The Pypeline New Media Portal is our flagship application. It is a hybrid audio/video player, image viewer, web browser, library manager and authoring tool. It brings together multiple media types combined with dynamic web content to create rich, interactive experiences. Until now, digital music has primarily been a background experience, Pypeline brings back the excitement of the album and encourages you to interact with it and the community at large.

Does the world need another media player?

NO. But, the world DOES need an application that creates and delivers dynamic rich media experiences. No other player does what Pypeline does. Pypeline automatically adds depth to your existing music collection and lets you create, play and distribute single-file rich media bundles using our EP3 format.

With Pypeline you can listen to music, watch videos, view slideshows, read liner notes, view album graphics, browse related web sites, interact with the community and much more. Pypeline plays virtually any type of audio and video file and supports many other standard media types for graphics and web content.

What is an EP3?

EP3* is a new file format that delivers rich media experiences by bringing together music, video, liner notes, pictures, web content and more under a single umbrella.  EP3’s support virtually any type and combination of audio, video and image files and, anything that can be displayed in a web browser – all in a single file. They can include:

• Music and videos in a single playlist

• Static and/or dynamic embedded liner notes

• Album art including hi res covers, booklets and posters

• Slideshows that play with the music at either the song or album level

•  Any combination of links including band sites, blogs and social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, Last.fm and Twitter

•  Just about anything digital you can think of – even games and apps

The new Pypeline EP3 file format empowers you to create albums and media bundles that are limited only by your imagination.

*Geek note: EP3 stands for “Extended Pypeline Packaging Protocol.”

How do I get Pypeline?

Please note that we are currently only testing the Windows version but, if you are a Mac or Linux user, go ahead and register anyway so you will be first in line.

How much does Pypeline cost?

The Pypeline New Media Portal and the EP3 format are free for non-commercial use. If you are interested in using Pypeline technology for anything else, please contact us.

Can I move tracks from EP3s onto my portable mp3 player?

Yes. Pypeline provides several ways to export, not only audio from EP3s, but also video and graphics so you can transfer them to an iPod® or other media devices.

How do I add my content (music, slideshows, liner notes, etc.) to an album?

When creating a new album, or editing an existing one, Pypeline includes a CREATE & EDIT tool in which digital assets can easily be added with simple and standard “browse and select” dialog windows. You simply gather your assets and import them into the appropriate areas. Pypeline does the rest.
